Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on October 28, 1967 in Atlanta. She is the fourth Roberts generation living in Atlanta from her great-grandfather who was a farmer John Pendleton Roberts. Her father had the first interest to theater. As studying in Emory University in 1952 he acted in productions on campus and elsewhere in Atlanta. While stationed at Biloxi, Mississippi, he was inducted into the airforce in the year 1953. Betty Lou Bredemus was in that production as well. Eric Anthony was their first born. The couple was married in 1957. Walter was a student at Tulane University at New Orleans in the year 1957, after the couple had left the US Air Force. Walter became a member of Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio after they moved their family from Atlanta to Georgia's Decatur in the year 1960. Walter along with Betty Lou started production in 1964 on the children's local Saturday morning television program Bum Bum and His Buddies that they self-funded. The following year, they started The Actors and Writers Workshop which ran for a period of six years. Lelisa Billingsley often referred to as Lisa was born in the year 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
